In 1887 William H. Manchester founded W.H. Manchester & Co. in Providence, RI.
In 1904, the company was renamed Manchester Mfg. Co.,
and in 1915, again the name changed to Manchester Silver Co.
In the mid-1950's, the company acquired the dies and rights
to the flatware patterns of Richard Dimes Co.
When silver prices spiked to $50 an ounce in 1980,
the firm announced it would be liquidated.
The Manchester Silver Co. was purchased by J.C. Boardman Co. in 1985.
